Hi all I'm having my 4th weigh in in two weeks but my insurance is switching from uhc to anthem blue Cross blue shield and with some bcbs plans there's no wait if your bmi is over 50 so here's to hoping that I'm done these in January

Oh that's exciting!!! Wouldn't that be nice if you can get started on this quicker! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Do you have to get weekly weigh ins by your doctor or is it what the insurance makes you do? Did you need a sleep study?

@ oh I hope you can keep your team. Most doctors have contracts with many carriers. Maybe you'll. Have to go to a different surgical center but I hope not with your doc.

betterme38,

Congratulations on the good news and thanks for sharing your positive feelings with us!

Like the others said, you may need to be on Vitamins for life with the sleeve: Multivitamin, Calcium and Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, and possibly Iron. They may be lower doses than with the bypass, but probably a similar number of pills.

Definitely let us know how December 22’s appointments with the nutritionist and your psych eval go!

It sounds like we have a group of you heading down the pre-op path! Good luck to all of you. Take advantage of all the nutrition classes they let you take! :)

@jane13. I am very well informed in all the different bariatric services. I have 12 people in my family who have had bypass, banding and the sleeve. I've had lots of people to discuss all this with. Thank you for worrying. Nice to know others out there care

I am learning as I go and will continue to learn. The But classes will definitely help and I plan on keeping a journal as I go. As far as this being a tool, yes I know thatjust as exercise is a tool aand eating healthier and smaller portions. These are all tools not 1 will do very much good without the rest.

Thank you for the concern and heads up about the Vitamins.

Second visit Thursday with the psych and nut folks. I'm nervous! I work 13hr shifts so I planned today to go get my blood panel done and completely forgot and drank a cup of coffee out of morning habit! Didn't even think of the lab! I was so mad when I realized I ruined it for the day! My time is so limited to run around too! So mad at myself. Going tomorrow 6am!!!

Hey did you hear about the insurance and if you will have to switch doctors? I sure hope not!

Hi All,

I'm at the beginning of my journey as well. I went to my first consult on November 19th and have chose the vertical sleeve.

I have started getting the required test needed such as blood work and x-ray. Since I was already seeing a psychologist she is giving me the clearance for surgery. I have been seeing a cardiologist for some time so I will be requesting the clearance from her as well and getting my EKG.

I saw the nutritionist once already and my next appointment is this month. I have 5 months to go until the doctor can submit the paperwork to the insurance for approval.

I am very excited to have begun this journey, I have already started making lifestyle changes with my choice of foods I eat and the quantities and also walking more. Hopefully by the time I actually have the surgery I will be used to eating healthier. I am 5'2 the day of my 1st consult I was 242 lbs and today I weight 234 lbs. my ultimate goal is to weight 125lbs I'm confident that with my commitment and support from family, friends and online support groups I will reach my goals and live a healthy, happy and energetic lifestyle.

Together we can do it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
