cjd2010 30 Posted November 22, 2015 I am having the hardest time getting Fluid or food down and feel sick all the time. Regretting this big time. I am four weeks post op bypass. This is horrible. I thought it was supposed to better my life! Not make it worse!
amandawall 12 Posted November 22, 2015 Have you talked to your dr? Are you still on liquids? I'm trying to transition to puréed food and it's not going well! So I went back to Protein Shakes for the weekend.
Cervidae 2,389 Posted November 22, 2015 Most people have that "OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE" phase where everything is difficult and it feels like far more pain and effort than it is worth. Speaking as someone who is a little over three months out, I promise you, it will get better. Most likely very soon. Your body has been through an enormous trauma and it's still reeling from that. Give yourself and it some time to adjust and heal. Keep thinking about why you did this in the first place. Try to stay positive.
cjd2010 30 Posted November 23, 2015 @@Cervidae thank you! I did have some complications after the surgery, but I think my anxiety is the worst part. I have headaches all day and I am dizzy and feel like my heart is racing like a horse! Scares me!!
Cervidae 2,389 Posted November 23, 2015 @@cjd2010 i know it's hard in the beginning. I felt so much like that for the first couple of months, and recently (like the past two weeks or so) I suddenly don't feel exhausted randomly, or dizzy, or any of the other things I was feeling. upping your Water intake will help a LOT. 64 ounces is the minimum, and people rarely get that much. but for heavier people and people who have had wls, we need far more than that. I actually used a water intake calculator to see how much I should be drinking at 320 pounds and it's 1.7 gallons (217 ounces). No way can I get all that in, but damn it if I haven't been trying! Since getting more water in, I feel much better. Hang in there.
catwoman7 11,221 Posted November 23, 2015 if it's mostly right after you eat, it could be a stricture. Otherwise, maybe dehydration? Lactose intolerance? Hard to tell. I'd call my surgeon's office and let them know.
KarenF1972 78 Posted November 23, 2015 I felt like that also right after surgery. I felt OK if I was sitting, but as soon as I got up, my heart would start to race and I just felt week. I was having a hard time drinking plain Water. I had a little bit of diluted apple juice but then I also started drinking some gatorade. That helped a lot! cjd2010 30 Posted November 23, 2015 @karenF1972. How long did you feel like that? Mine will not stop, I can't get down any Protein and having a horrible time. Having terrible panic attacks cause if it! I am so sad!
siouxd 0 Posted November 26, 2015 Totally understand your comments. I'm five weeks out and still regretting it. I feel sick all the time.
WildGrits 101 Posted November 27, 2015 I totally had the OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE week. It does get better. The panic attacks get worse for awhile, but they too pass. In the end, it is totally worth it.
bostongirlforever 11 Posted November 27, 2015 I would call the doc as well. Just to rule some things out. But I agree with most that you'll be feeling better soon. Good luck! ☺
muzical1 85 Posted November 27, 2015 You are not alone. I went through a tough time 4-6 weeks after rny like yours. It turned out to be nothing but I did have to return to liquid diet for a while. Check with your doc to be sure all is well. If so, you'll be fine in no time.
