Recommendation for hummus

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I need store-bought, I am not Suzie homemaker -).

I came across a low-fat powder in Amazon that you mix with olive oil. Has anyone tried this - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00650ISK8?keywords=hummus&qid=1448193838&ref_=sr_1_1&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011%2Cp_n_feature_eight_browse-bin%3A2288328011&s=grocery&sr=1-1

If you have an Aldi by you they have hummus there that my family loves that is very reasonably priced.

My favorite is Sabra.

I second the Sabra, especially the roasted red pepper one. It's not hot! And you can frequently find coupons for this one.

The one at Aldi is made by sabarra but under a private label name for aldi, even though the packaging is the same, so it can be sold at half the price.

I like the Sabra as well.

However if you're going to mix something basic hummus is only 3 or 4 ingredients. One can of chickpeas, rinsed & drained, 1 tsp of tahini, glove of garlic, olive oil. Blend everything in a food processor, salt, pepper to taste. Some add a splash of lemon. You can add roasted peppers, cilantro, etc...To store put in a container and cover the top with olive oil. The powder stuff is probably powdered chickpeas with a bunch of fillers.

Just checked this link. The ingredients are chickpea flour, sea salt, tahini, garlic & lemon flavorings, carrageen and citric acid. So pretty much what I stated above. I've never tried it, but the ingredients aren't horrible if you aren't against eating foods with carregeen in it.

Price wise it's a rip off considering a can of chickpeas cost like $.69.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
