Quest Bar

Recommended Posts

i did a test drive on the Quest strawberry flav Protein powder and LOVE IT!!! i have grown very sick of Protein shakes since my surgery, actually gave them up completely for quite a while, but found my eating habits slid backwards really quickly and i gained about 5 lbs. tried the strawberry earlier in the week and it was great with really cold milk and ice.

fyi, somebody asked if all Quest bars are dense. yes, they are all that way. for some people, warming them works well, for ME, putting them in the fridge works best.

@@mi75 I am going to try the powder soon. I have a case of Premier Protein to go through first. Like you I got sick of the shakes but over time I just pushed through it. Kinda like taking medicine. But I know there are alternatives that actually taste good and have the same results as what Ive been eating and drinking

Love the Qwest choc chip cookie dough bars! Keep one/two in my purse at all times - order them on Amazon, get delivered right to my door. Yes, if you look at it like "$2 for a granola bar!" it sounds pricey, but -- it can be a meal or a very filling, healthy -- and tasty -- snack. How many of us wouldn't have batted an eyelash at shelling over $2 for large order of fries at McD's?

Exactly. The last thing I worry about these days are my food costs.

I keep a two boxes of the Quest bags of chips on hand at all times. Sometimes a bag of those chips (120 calories @ 20 grams of protein) with some picante sauce (10 calories) as a meal.....dinner after a long day at work.

Their bars are great working lunches.

Usually have my shake in the car on the way to work.

I'm picking up this thread again-

Love Quest Bars. Fave is definitely the raspberry and white chocolate. I have not run into the Quest chips. Can anyone enlighten me where to find them? Dub's idea of dipping them into salsa sounds like HEAVEN!

Don't those Protein bars too many carbs? I'm not judging or criticizing..... Just still learning. I'm pre-op.

Re read the whole thread, that is discussed up thread. Many people count net carbs, as in take the total carbs (my Quest bar wrapper here says 26) subtract the Fiber grams as they are "good carbs" (my wrapper says 17) and some subtract the sugar alcohol grams as well because of how they are digested (wrapper says 6g erythritol).

So

26-17 = 9 net carbs

Or

26-17-6 = 3 net carbs

As someone else said unthread her nutritionist doesn't agree with that. Mine does. You need to find out your doctor or nutritionist recommendations on that or if you don't have that option do your own research and form an educated opinion.

GNC and Vitamin Shoppe carry them. The quest website itself is easy to order from and has quick shipping.

Try a bag before you buy them in bulk. They are the one quest product I don't like. However my 17 year old daughter who is allergic to potatoes loves them, go figure!

Oh ok. Thanks so much for explaining. I was scared of getting attacked by people thinking I was being judge-y. Lol. The only way to learn is by asking and I knew nothing of the net carb concept. I'll definitely ask my medical peeps! Thanks again! :)

Finally got my hands on the Quest chips! Omg. Thank you for mentioning them! I just finished eating mine (sea salt) with refried Beans and salsa. I'm in heaven. Also tried the cheddar cheese. Good too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
