December Banders Where Are You?

Recommended Posts

Surgery was a breeze. Went into a cold room and took a little nap. Total trip took about 9 hours including the 3.5 in the car. Taking the pain meds and only Water today. Gas pain is real but tolerable.

Oh...it was today.

I mean 1.5 hrs one way. I'll be the first patient so my doctor said I should be out and home by noon.

My surgery was about 45 minutes. I spent about 2 hours in recovery then about 2 more in my room. Great experience and had a great medical team taking care of me.

Surgery went well. Got kept in overnight which I was thankful for.

The gas pain is worse than anything else. Think that's what's preventing me managing more liquids. At the moment making sure I get 1.5l of Water in throughout the day. I am managing 1 cup of Soup and half a shake roughly.

Does that sound about right? X

Thanks for letting me know. My surgery is scheduled on a Thursday because my bmi is over 50. The doctor told me is because I am at a higher risk for complications. If all goes well I will be leaving by 10

Hey there kiba78 we have the same date. I go in on the 17 and will stay overnight, but I think its required by the insurance or my doctor, or cuz its a center of excellence. I hope all is well and you have a successful surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
