Today, more than any day since surgery I'm feeling really emotional. I'm 4 weeks PO today and I'm just feeling discouraged and hopeless. It's not even about the weight loss anymore, I've stopped paying so much attention to that because I am having such a hard time eating pretty much anything. Things get stuck and feel like a brick in my chest, even the Soup I had 2 days ago. Can't seem to have anything solid, even mushier things. I'm not even slightly interested in eating anything. I feel like I will never be able to eat solids without issue.

Doctor said basically eat smaller bites, chew longer and wait more between bites. I've been doing everything I can do to that. But I can't get soup to go down?

I know I just have to get through this and things will get better. Anyone ever been this emotional after surgery? How did you cope?

It's actually very normal to be super emotional after surgery, I know I definitely was, and still am sometimes. I'm a little over three months out. Our bodies and hormones are changing SO much right now. Everything is thrown off balance and that can really mess with you. But it will get better, don't worry. 4 weeks is still very soon after surgery, though I know it doesn't really feel like it. I'm almost 14 weeks out and it's still in the "this just happened and my body is still reeling" phase. Keep your chin up. :)

I am with you...I am 4 weeks out as well and it seems like I'm on a roller coaster of emotions. I just try to remember what brought me to having the surgery and how excited i was and then remember that its not going to be like this forever...you can do this...you will do this! Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
