For me it was 4 days post-op. Then the next day. And then not for another week. But I'm on a fully liquid diet. If your diet progresses quicker, I would imagine you would go more often.

Ooh man, it took me 2 weeks and when it finally did happen it was a religious experience (sent me to my knees). I wouldn't start worrying until day 7, then take a natural laxative with senna root or drink some isotonic salt Water.< /p>

My doctor puts his patients on a 30 day course of colace. It helps get the body back to normal. My initial BM wasn't painful at all. It wasn't loose either, just really small.

I was constipated and the first BM was like barbed wired coming out. I take Mirolax now every three days. Oh my gosh that has been a God sent. If I don't take it I can't go for weeks. It's nice and mild resulting in a joyful BM.????

I just make sure to have enough good Fiber in my body that I can go naturally. You can add a tsp of wheat germ, flax powder or psyllium to your Protein Shakes each day until you can add fresh fruit and veg back into your diet.

from last BM pre surgery to post surgery was a week.... I'm still fighting constipation...was hoping to find some ideas..I'm 10 days post op and still at the liquid phase... It's probably from not taking in enough water.... I'm having trouble I taking enough ... but between pre-op diet and post surgery I'm down 42 lbs

Water is key. I am very regular, anywhere from 1 -3 times a day. I find that on the days when I get plenty of fiber and water I tend to go more.

I drink plenty of water and it does not help. May for you not me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
