Hi All!

I'm gonna get right into it because I can't think of a "nice" way to put this. I'm about 4 weeks out and on my soft food diet. A few things haven't sat well with me (I'm guessing) because after I eat, I feel tightness in my chest and then I vomit; but when I do, it's mostly foam and what seems to be like mucus. Is this normal for post op patients? I usually feel much better after I do, I've just never vomited foam or mucus before. What's going on with me???

The foam can be from eating too fast, or your stomach is too full..or whatever you ate didn't agree with you. This can happen to anyone at any time after surgery. Just an indication to chew well, slow down or avoid that food for a bit and skip to the next thing:)

I had a bout with the foamies a week or so ago....was eating while preparing my hubby something to snack on...OMG will not do that again...slow down and chew chew chew....,my blockage passed within a couple of hours but this can send you to the ER to have the blockage removed.

I get it from eating too fast or too much. There was a period of a few weeks post op where I couldn't really tell when I had eaten enough and would only figure it out when this happened. I'm almost four weeks out now and I can finally tell when my pouch is full.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
