Band to Sleeve Revision surgery TODAY!

Recommended Posts

Well the time has finally come and I will be headed to the hospital later today for my band to sleeve revision surgery. I suppose that I'm about as prepared as I can be, but would still appreciate your thoughts and prayers (as I am quite nervous).

Thanks!!

Hey guys. I'm out of surgery and recovery. Very nauseous and in a good amount of pain, but otherwise things went great.

Thanks to all that offered their support, thoughts, well wishes, and prayers!!! They have meant a lot to me!!

I'm currently on my way home, but I spoke too soon. I Had a VERY BAD night as I woke up at 2:00am with severe convulsions. I honestly thought I was going to die as my body shook uncontrollably. It was very scary.

Thankfully I am better now, but they never could pinpoint the problem. We all think it was a severe drug interaction or overdose.

Oh my glad you are on way home take it easy and recover slowly

Yeah it is quite nerve racking to wake up to severe convulsions. Never had anything like that happen to me before. As a result, I now have really bad neck pain as well.

So hapy you are home. Without all the bother of the nurses and IVs you can hopefully get some good rest and begin healing. ????

Hope you are doing well I am still sore and working hard to get my strength back down 21lbs so far

I am doing pretty good. Still dealing with nausea and soreness.

Congrats on the weight loss. Are you down 21lbs from the beginning of Pre-Op diet or from surgery date? I'm down 22 from Pre-Op, but only down 3.6 from surgery date.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
