@@winklie I have to do something. And I feel hungry more than anything sometimes. But I still only eat some portions at a time.

@Smallfry06 If you are hungry, eat. The body does not always make sense. You would think fewer calories would equal more weight loss, but not always so. If your body goes into starvation mode, you will stop losing weight and potentially gain weight. Protein, liquid and exercise. The more the better. This shall pass. And no you need not do anything, just stick to the plan, search for Embrace the Stall here on these forums. Great post.

If you think you are moving slow, reach out to others who are a few months ahead of you and read about their experiences. It really helps put things in perspective. Only do this with people who have had the same surgery as you because there is incredible differences in what each one does.

My surgeon explained it this way, "The Roux en Y is an extremely invasive surgery, just under heart surgery. It will take an extended amount of time for the body to heal."

That being said, the first few months you will lose weight but a few things work as factors. You have a lots of tissue in the body that is trying to heal now. It will be swollen during this time. If you take certain meds or have diabetes, it will take longer for the body to repair the damage.

A helpful thing to do is make sure you take full body measurements. During those plateaus I found I was actually experiencing my skin shrink in. So when you feel discouraged it is good to not just rely on the scale but to have other ways to check your progress.

Hi! I also had RNY on Nov. 9! I gained 8lbs in the hospital so I was livid! I've lost about 10lbs and was very discourage too. To many people post about losing 20+ the first few weeks. My dr is very happy at where I was at the 2 weeks. He said focus on healing! As the swelling goes down and your body bounces back from the surgery, I will see more weight loss. He also said NOT to do any exercise except walking until after my 4 week post op appointment. The final thing he reminded me is that the more someone weighs, the faster it will come off at first. So if someone else started at 350 and I was at 250, then their first 2 weeks would show a bigger weight loss! Keep your head up! We can do this!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
