My surgery was six months ago, and I have had a flawless recovery so far, no complications, no dietary intolerance, a near 80lb. weight loss and feeling AMAZING. However, I've been taking photos every three months since my Surgery (May 6th), and looking at the latest photo, I was so disappointed. All I saw was cellulite, and I felt a little down. Then I went back to the photo I took a few days before my surgery and went WHOAAAA!! Every step forward is success, this hard work and we should never lose sight of our successes no matter how small. Don't lose heart!! I'm including the photos from 0, 3, and 6 months post surgery.

Way to go! Keep it up! I can relate to your feeling when you looked at the most recent photo. I lost so much so fast at first that when I look at the current me in a picture, or when trying on new clothes, I still feel like it isn't enough. But side by side, a before and after, it is amazing to see the difference. Looking good. Keep it up!

You look great!!! Are you doing any weight lifting?

Not yet! I wanted to get below 200lbs before getting serious about exercise (I know, that's not a brilliant plan), but I've signed up for a boot camp that starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. Can't wait!

I have a theory to share, based upon my own journey.

Before WLS surgery, one of the issues is that we are in denial so we go around looking at the world from the inside of a fat person thru the eyes of a skinny person.

After WLS surgery, we are so guilty of where we ended up (sort of the 'rock bottom' when we decided to have the WLS) that we have a REAL hard time seeing the world from the eyes of a much less heavy (dare I say normal) person.

GREAT IRONY THERE!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
