Thanksgiving post week 3

Recommended Posts

So I'm wondering if I can sneak a bite of two of something from the dessert table... I don't know if I am allowed to try any meat. I am going to the doctor today for staple removal. I just want real food again. I created a low/no carb board on Pinterest and I'm dedicated to changing how I eat but I just want to bite into something, chew it up and swallow. Oh the simple things

Try a bite. Put it on your tongue and you will know if you can proceed. Some people can not take sweets so early and will have major problems. The biggest problem with sweets is that if you can tolerate them you are in a dangerous position and can sabotage your weightloss efforts. Some Protein powders can be used to make mug cakes. Try that for a better dessert option.

Ask your surgeon. I'm sure he will tell you to follow your plan.

Stop worrying about dessert. Your priority right now is protien and fluids, not dessert. Find some soft protien to chew for Thanksgiving instead.

For the record, those cravings will subside as soon as you start real food. I would also suggest you stay away from sugar as much as you can to minimize the cravings for more, or you will struggle with hunger constantly. The secret sauce to success with this surgery is Protein, not Desserts.

Follow your plan. If you need ideas talk to your NUT. Healing safely is your number one priority. That should include getting in all of your Protein and fluids.

By week three I was starting soft foods, which meant I was eating a lot of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese.

One idea, if it fits in your plan, is to try a seasonal Greek yogurt (like pumpkin) with pumpkin pie spice or something similar.

Don't risk your health by eating something that is not in your program.
