I have no pain, no gas pain, no nausea, no vomiting and no fevers. But my heart is racing. Not sure if it is because of the lack of sleep I got considering they woke me up every 2 to 4 hours to walk and do breathing exercises. Swallow test yesterday morning was good. Any experience with this?

Yes, I experience some discomfort, pain from gas, and a very rapid heartbeat. I experienced this 1 week after surgery. I was going to head to the gym and do some walking. However, by the time I got to my car from walking up 5 stairs and then down 5 stairs, I was extremely winded. It was difficult to catch my breath. My surgeon's office sent me to the ER immediately. Wanted to make sure it wasn't a blood clot or pneumonia. However, I was mildly dehydrated. The rapid heartbeat was gone by the end of the week.

I dont think im dehydrated. I just got discharged today. Received 240ml of IV Fluid prior to leavung, able to eat both liquid trays, have drank at least 50oz of fluids ontop of that. If it wasnt for the fast heart rate Id be a-ok.

I didn't think I was dehydrated either because they gave me fluids while I was in the ER and I still had the rapid heartbeat throughout that 2nd week.

Thinking you should call your surgeon. I dont think a fast heart rate is normal.

@@smcbee79 - I had tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) post - op as well. I didn't even realize it when I was in the until the nurse mentioned it when I asked when was I going to be released (I had just done leak test). Surgeon ordered extra testing to rule out blood clots - xrays, cat scan, etc and then I was released later that Thursday evening (HR 115 +/-). I didn't feel funny. I just didn't like my heart racing. I didn't check my HR until Saturday morning and when I did, it was back to a normal rate. I was told that some people react that way to the anesthesia.

BUT if you feel dizzy, light headed, SOB (short of breath) etc - get to ER!!!!

@@jane13 did you feel like your heart was going to jump out of your chest? It is just wierd bc surgery was Monday and this didnt start till yesterday :/ But that is the only symptom I am having, outside of being a little nauseated when I first wake up which I was told was normal.

I had rapid heart beat post op as well. I had to stay in the hospital an extra day to stabilize it. I am 3 months post op, and I monitor my BP and my heart rate everyday. Both have been normal since. I would address this with your surgeon.

@@smcbee79 - once I "heard" I had tachycardia I then seem to FEEL it beating fast. I had no other symptoms. I don't know when mine actually started. It was sometime between the surgery at 7am on Wed until I saw it on my monitors about noon the next day. I was told until the anesthesia and meds used for the OR were out of my system it could be the culprit. By Saturday mine was back to 70-75 per minute.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
