I'd say the 64 Oz is a minumum.

Do you not have A/C where you work? Even if you don't, 64oz. of Water a day is the recommended amount for everyone.

I'm not sure I understand the issue.

I do a fairly physical job (truck mechanic) and their def is no a/c in the workshop. And this time of year it is very hot. Normally I smash thru 5 litres of Water per shift and sweat a lot. Just worried now only fit in 1.5Litres

yeah, 64 oz is the minimum. I think I understand your question...you used to drink 5 liters a day and now, a week after surgery, you have trouble drinking 64 oz. You are still at the 'sipping' stage! So you have probably realized by now that you can no longer guzzle it down although with each passing week it seems to get easier to drink faster. Since you have a job with great amounts of heat and humidity and you sweat a lot, you might want to drink something with electrolytes in it once a day to help balance things out. There are several options out there - I use Powerade Zero.

However, that may not be enough. I would talk with your nutritionist and see if he/she has any suggestions; wouldn't want you to pass out from dehydration.

be careful with a phyical job so soon after surgery. You're probably goiing to be tempted to gulp your Water if you're hot but be careful not to. When I had my surgery I made that mistake once. It was warm out and I could not quench my thirst with those tiny sips. Without thinking once I just chugged some water and it came back up like a fountain. Not fun

I have mistaken my specs. I thought 1500ml was 64oz but 2000ml (2litres) is 64oz so I just added a much needed 500ml to my Water allowance. I am walking daily 30min and its very hot just sitting around. Im sipping my water because mouthfuls hurt but I am thirsty all day. Im worried about drinking too much. Is 64oz min or max ?

64 oz is minimum

and I chugged something down once and it stayed down but I was in terrible pain for about a half hour while the air slowly worked itself back out and the liquid down...

I know that at 17 days out from surgery I did not have enough energy to do much of anything. Be careful...I did not have full energy until a little over a month past surgery. Also remember that you need to eat your Protein and waiting between eating and drinking is all important. You won't regain your energy without the Protein and we have to eat such tiny amounts at a time - it will really be tough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
