I have couple things Im going through and need some advice please.

I had my op 4th August 2015 and I've lost 6 stone now but the last month I've had numbness from bottom tummy going down to my legs and also real bad pains in my legs, also getting very dizzy and feel like I'm going to pass out!!

I've been to doc and I no my B12 is low and I'm having injections for it but my doc is brushing off everything else. I'm really concerned about all this as I really don't feel right.

Has anyone else had this? If so please talk to me

Xx

I have not had this but would definitely be concerned about a blood clot. If you are not comfortable with your doctor go to another one until you get answers.

That is not normal at all.

I have the same things happening to me. After a lot of appoitments and ER trips I finally got a referral from my surgeon to meet with a neurologist. We did a bunch of tests (tilt table, blood tests, cardio tests etc) and have found that I have a peripheral nerve disorder along with becoming hypoglycemic.

My symptoms started pretty quickly after surgery. Luckily the pain I had in my legs has subsided but I still get very lightheaded/dizzy/disoriented. It makes it very hard to do the kind of workout I want to do because I can't really run or lift weights due to the dizziness. My neurologist has said this isn't uncommon for bariatric patients but for it to happen so soon after surgery is slightly concerning. My primary care people didn't really have any answers or path forward for me so I've been working with the neurologist mainly.

I would see if meeting with a neurologist is something you can do. Even bring it up to your surgeon if you can.

It's something I may have to deal with for the rest of my life but having a doctor that works with me, keeps me in the loop and really wants to help me has made this stressful and scary situation SO much easier.

If you have any questions or if I can clarify anything feel free to message me :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
