HappyNean32 54 Posted November 18, 2015 Just read about someone going in for surgery and it not being unsuccessful but did not tell why. Have anyone heard of stories like this and what was the reason? My date is Dec 1st and this makes me worry.

perforce 243 Posted November 18, 2015 Obviously complications do happen, but before you panic remember that there is a big difference between surgery failing and the patient failing to use surgery correctly.
HappyNean32 54 Posted November 18, 2015 Yes I understand the difference but she arrived at the hospital for surgery but they didn't go thru with the procedure
perforce 243 Posted November 18, 2015 Sorry I read your post as having had surgery but not losing weight. There are reasons for that to happen (safety first!). Sometimes the tests come back and there's something off about one of them that they want it to get better before they will operate. I've also read that if you're an extreme weight it can be difficult for the surgeon to inflate the stomach so they can access the stomach without damaging other organs. The reasons can be as individual as the person having the op.
jane13 2,256 Posted November 18, 2015 @@HappyNean32 - rather safe than sorry. If it was not explained then understand that it was probably a medical reason as to why it was called off. I would rather the surgeon, I trusted with my life, make that call than to go ahead and I have complications IMHO - Have trust in your medical team, or don't do the surgery. newmebithebypass 713 Posted November 19, 2015 Well there was one woman on the board who was getting trying to get bypass and the surgeon was unable to reroute the intestine with out causing strain twice so they switched to sleeve the second time
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted November 19, 2015 Some patients don't follow their pre-op diet, their liver proves to be too fatty for the procedure and the doctor sews them back up without going through with it. That's for their safety.
