2016NewMe 61 Posted November 18, 2015 Who and when along the process i get a date? ????
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 18, 2015 Are you asking when my surgery was scheduled? I was scheduled at my last surgical appointment (after all my tests and clearances had come back). I had an appointment that included my last pre-op nutrition class, a seminar where my surgeon basically filled is in as a group on the surgery process and what to expect, and a one-on-one exam by the PA and my surgeon. Before I left, I was scheduled with my surgery date. Then, I had to go in for the last pre-op blood test and had a phone consultation to pre-register for the hospital admission. Was that what you were looking for? My program gave me a binder that included a list of all the steps in the process which was very helpful.

I also recommend you write everything down and keep it in one place. If your program doesn't give you a binder, you might want to get one to keep up with everything. BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 18, 2015 I received a handbook on my first appt with the surgeon outlining the entire process start to finish. We had to attend the seminar before we could get a date with the surgeon. I don't actually know exactly when they requested pre-certification from my insurance company. I received the letter in August and my date was set for September. I still had to complete my sleep study, and nutrition class.

Trinn 139 Posted November 18, 2015 After you do all the things they've asked you to do to be cleared for it *AND* the insurance pre-auth has come through, for many places.
The Candidate 3,215 Posted November 18, 2015 I didn't get a date until a month before my surgery. That was after fulfilling a year of pre surgical requirements.

Dub 9,922 Posted November 20, 2015 I started off thinking I was going to use my insurance.....6 month pre-op supervised diet and the works....I wound up deciding to self fund about 3 months into it and had my surgery a few weeks later. I still wound up going through all the classes....some of them twice and I'm grateful for them....the material presented was very helpful but even more were the other participants and the discussions that came about. Good stuff to galvanize me to make the effort and change the mindset.
