Are you asking when my surgery was scheduled?

I was scheduled at my last surgical appointment (after all my tests and clearances had come back). I had an appointment that included my last pre-op nutrition class, a seminar where my surgeon basically filled is in as a group on the surgery process and what to expect, and a one-on-one exam by the PA and my surgeon.

Before I left, I was scheduled with my surgery date.

Then, I had to go in for the last pre-op blood test and had a phone consultation to pre-register for the hospital admission.

Was that what you were looking for?

My program gave me a binder that included a list of all the steps in the process which was very helpful.

It is confusing so it's ok to ask questions.

I also recommend you write everything down and keep it in one place. If your program doesn't give you a binder, you might want to get one to keep up with everything.

I received a handbook on my first appt with the surgeon outlining the entire process start to finish. We had to attend the seminar before we could get a date with the surgeon. I don't actually know exactly when they requested pre-certification from my insurance company. I received the letter in August and my date was set for September. I still had to complete my sleep study, and nutrition class.

After you do all the things they've asked you to do to be cleared for it *AND* the insurance pre-auth has come through, for many places.

I didn't get a date until a month before my surgery. That was after fulfilling a year of pre surgical requirements.

I started off thinking I was going to use my insurance.....6 month pre-op supervised diet and the works....I wound up deciding to self fund about 3 months into it and had my surgery a few weeks later.

I still wound up going through all the classes....some of them twice and I'm grateful for them....the material presented was very helpful but even more were the other participants and the discussions that came about. Good stuff to galvanize me to make the effort and change the mindset.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
