???? Sleep test on Friday the 20th ????

Recommended Posts

I'll be going for my sleep study on Friday and wondering if there's anything specific I should bring? I don't do good sleeping away from home.

Did any of you bring a fan? Silly question, but I literally need the nose to sleep.

Hi I just did my sleep study last night! I took my own pillow. There was a fan in my room that I could use if I wanted.

I don't think I slept much though.

I was worried that I would pull the leads out. They didn't lol. The paste left on your head washes out easily and they suggested to use dish soap instead of Shampoo. It worked great.

I was also given a survey to fill out.

It wasn't too bad. I came home and had a nap lol since I didn't get much sleep there.

I didn't bring anything but toiletries and pajamas. They had fans, extra pillows, etc. I did not sleep very well there though.

I thought of taking benadryl but I'd want an accurate reading because I can't sleep well if my life depended on it so I want them to know that and find out why.

I didn't bring anything special, just sleep clothes, clothes to wear the next day, and toiletries. It's pretty obnoxious to fall asleep with all the stuff glued to you, but not much you can do. I agree with your thoughts on taking benadryl- I wouldn't want to skew the test results. Just try to relax, maybe bring something to read to calm you down before bed.

And just for fun, here is a pic of me with all my leads attached that I dug up the last time someone asked about the sleep study. This was a few years ago, long before I considered bariatric surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
