6 Days Post-Op, Weird Pop Sensation. What was it?

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days post-op and things have been going very well. I haven't had much pain, just some discomfort around the left incision where my stomach was removed. Since the surgery, the incision area was indented quite significantly. Last night, I accidentally tapped it lightly, felt a weird pop sensation, and the indentation went away. It feels much better now. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Maybe an internal stitch used on the abdominal muscles popped. I know that happens to a fair number of people. If that is what happened, it is just a stitch on a muscle outside the stomach and not a health concern, completely normal. But you might want to check in with your surgeon's office to be sure.

That sounds like the internal stitch. The same thing happened to me and the pain/tightness subsided rapidly after that

I am 16 days out and just had this experience a few minutes ago. I stood up from my recliner and felt a large twang in my belly by my main incision and now the incision pain that has been KILLING me is gone. *Happy Dance!!!***

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
