I am pretty immobile, should I start walking more often? Well, yes I know I should to be healthier.. But to help prevent clots, should I start now? I have trouble walking because my knee, and also my shins really start to hurt. But maybe if I start with once or twice around the block now will be helpful in the long run.

I think when I start out with walking, I push myself to much and get disappointed with the pain and than give up quickly.. I work one mile from work and I have walked there once, and when I got

There I was in so much pain I almost cried. Sad but true ???? a clot after surgery is my BIGGEST fear and may actually hold me back from this.

Talk to your surgeon about what he or she recommends.

Pre-op, I had a difficult time walking, too, so I got an exercise peddler and peddled it with my hands while watching TV. I worked up to an hour a day. I think it really helped me to be ready for surgery.

Are you able to do any Water exercise? If so, you may want to try some pre-op. Post-op you will have to wait about a month to get into the Water so you will need to walk. Just keep in mind you won't need to walk miles. I just had to get up and move around periodically. I didn't have to go on a hike!

I think its being missed that I mentioned that I talked to my surgeon's assistant already...

I have never been and hope to never be seditary - I am a very mobile person - I work out twice a week as I have since before my band was unfilled - I continue to do so because I don't want to gain any weight back as a result of my band being unfilled and having no restriction. It was due to my no filter for when it came to eating regardless of whether it was good for me or bad - I had no oh I'm full lets stop eating until I had the band put in. and now that it unfilled I am very scared that I will regain what I lost with it, so I continue to work out to keep that from happening before my surgery.

Thanks y'all for your concern - but don't worry... I did and will continue to talk to my team about my concerns when I get freaked out like I did in my original post on here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
