Glogyal 34 Posted November 16, 2015 Okay, I'm exaggerating but seriously. Has anyone felt as though there was a ball like consistency trying to roll up your throat? It does not feel like acid reflux. Definitely isn't an heartburn. This has been happening to me ever since the surgery and it literally wakes me up out of my sleep sometimes. It's a very uncomfortable feeling. jess9395 5,449 Posted November 16, 2015 Are you on a PPI For acid? Because honestly acid can feel that way. I didn't realize I had acid before surgery because it just felt like I had a hair I just couldn't cough up in my throat. My surgeon said oh yeah that's how reflux feels sometimes! Glogyal 34 Posted November 16, 2015 Oh snap. I didn't realize that could be one of the possibilities. I'm taking Prilosec but I winged off of it because it's not working at all.
jess9395 5,449 Posted November 16, 2015 Maybe it was working and you didn't know... Did you have the "hair ball" while you were on it?
Glogyal 34 Posted November 17, 2015 I did actually but it's slowly going away now.

It's a very uncomfortable feeling. That's acid. Unlike heartburn the acid build up that comes with this surgery can feel exactly like you are describing. Call your doctor and get a PPI. Prilosec is not a reactive drug. You can take it whenever you have an acid attack. It needs to be in your system which is why taking the prescribe dosage daily is important. Typically it take 3 -5 days to effectively make a difference.
