I ate bread! Successfully!

Recommended Posts

Ok silly thing to be excited about I guess but at 5 1/2 months post-op, I have not even ventured towards a piece of bread out of fear of it "sticking". Honestly I know I can live without it, but I really needed a way to get my carbs and Fiber up a little and mostly have really struggled with Breakfast choices as I am savory / salty craving person and not a sweets person. ANYWAY, I bought Cobblestone Flatbread Rounds 100% Whole Wheat and they are very thin. I toasted only 1/2 of the "round" which was 50 calories, 10g carb, 2.5g Protein and topped it with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and 1 oz of deli turkey. I took tiny bites but so far so good! Probably need to up the protein by adding some more turkey or something, but so nice to have an alternative for breakfast! And nice to know it could be used for so many things like a mini Pizza Crust maybe? Mostly I am happy I braved into trying something new without fear that was satisfying!

As long as it doesn't become too much of a slippery slope for you, enjoy the bread!

For me, I stayed away from it completely until I was almost at goal. Now in maintenence, I'm finding bread and crackers slipping more and more back in, and now I'm up 1.4 pounds as of this morning. Time to cut it back out again. I'm just too darn sensitive to it.

I still haven't found a viable solution for bread. They all make me feel like yuck. Crackers, no problem. Tortilla chips no problem but even soft tortillas don't work.

I am kind of glad about this as I would definitely have a hard time with choices if bread were one of them.

Once I am at goal I might try thin toast. I am sick of eggs without anything to crunch with them, maybe just at the weekends when I up my carbs anyway. I stay away from crackers as I could eat the whole packet whereas I was never overly fussed about bread.< /p>

I guess at some point bread will be something that I look at and say....."Okay....let's try and see".

Whenever that point is....I'm going to have to watch it like a hawk.

Bread and Pasta are usually not good for me and weight stability.

I've been thinking about getting one of those vegetable spiralizer deals to make substitute Pasta.< /p>

pizza crust is normally my downfall, too. Of course, I'll be fortunate in that a single piece of thin crust will probably be more than a meal.

Another monster for me is sodium.

All the pouches of flavored tuna and salmon are loaded with it. So is the beef & turkey Jerky I've had. Heck....even the frozen non-breaded flounder fillets I'm broiling for breakfast-lunch have a lot in it (some type of nitrate preservative).....the hot sauce I doused on them prior to going in the broiling pan has lots of sodium.

So many considerations to take into account.

In many ways the tried & true Protein shake diet was so much easier. :P

Isn't that the truth.... All these decisions about, fat, saturated fat, carbs, sodium, sugar and of course Protein. I still sometimes just close the fridge stop thinking about what to have and mix up a shake.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
