Stomach lump 4 months post-op

Recommended Posts

He told me first post op appointment that it would go away . It doesn't hurt or bother me but as I lose weight it is not real attractive. post-82539-14475534654234_thumb.jpg

This picture is little close and makes it look a little bigger than what it is. I am concerned that this doesn't seem to be a normal complication. Weird since I am having great success.

Is it possible that you have a hernia? I have an umbilical hernia and it is above my belly button and looks like your lump. My Dr told me he would not remove mine during the sleeve surgery as they tend to grow back during weight loss surgery. I would get a second opinion.

You can have your doctor check it out, and you should just to make sure things are as they should, but that may just be your body. I attended the support group at my hospital today. They had a plastic surgeon as one of the guest speakers talking about skin removal surgeries. One of the before pictures he showed looked quite similar to that. It was just how the body settled.

That looks exactly like an umbilical hernia I had. I would be very surprised if it was something else. On the bright side, losing weight makes a hernia repair easier to do and less likely to fail over time.

Sad thing is that this has been like this since surgery. It didn't develop over time .

I'm glad it doesn't hurt or bother you, but I would still go get that checked out.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
