I am 4 months out of surgery and have lost 60 pounds with huge success. My only concern is that I have a good sized grapefruit sized lump over my incision where the stomach came out. I believe he told me at first preop it would go away. After 4 months out it shows up more because everything else has disappeared . I get concerned because I can't find anyone on here who has had the same problem. Anyone have this problem?

Has your surgeon looked at it? Does it hurt?

My incision scars are tiny so this sounds really unusual. I would recommend you get your surgeon's opinion.

He told me first post op appointment that it would go away . It doesn't hurt or bother me but as I lose weight it is not real attractive. post-82539-1447552324627_thumb.jpg

This picture is little close and makes it look a little bigger than what it is. I am concerned that this doesn't seem to be a normal complication. Weird since I am having great success.

My first thought was an umbilical hernia but then I saw the picture and I'm undecided. Only your doctor can tell you for sure. Glad to hear you're having success.

See your doctor. I did some researching and even though it's painless, it could be an infection, abscess, hematoma, etc.....

I also thought hernia-- you do need to have it looked at. Hernias need surgical repair! ????

It might be something else too as suggested--

Congrats on your success so far!

Thanks everyone it was a hernia. I had a repair done a week from last Friday. It was a short procedure, but after 10 days I am still pretty sore. Doc said hernia was significant, and it has been way worse than my sleeve surgery. Ready to start lifting again so I can get down to about 180. I am at about 200 after starting at 264 in June.

Glad it's been taken care of and you are well!

How long do they want you to wait before lifting? You definitely don't want to rush it and have it happen again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
