Good morning,

I wanted to know if anyone know anything good for me to take to get rid of the stomach virus. I've been having it for a little over a week. Thursday, i went to the ER and was given antibiotics through an IV and was given meds to take home. I'm still feeling horrible. Any advice?

You've had a stomach virus for an entire WEEK? Why did they give you antibiotic for a virus? Antibiotics are given for bacterial infections, not viruses. It sounds like you have something else going on besides a stomach virus. I would be seeking additional medical treatment....

The reason the doctor gave me antibiotics because I was throwing up.

I don't understand the antibiotics either. Every time I've had a stomach virus, my doctor has said that I just have to let it pass. I've always been told to make sure I hydrate, even if it's ice chips.< /p>

I agree with the other posts. I would seek out either another opinion or clarification of your diagnosis and treatment. Antibiotics are pretty hard on the stomach as well. Best of luck to you. I hope you feel better soon.

Maybe you meant antiemetics and not antibiotics. Antiemetics are for vomiting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
