Kindle 8,667 Posted November 14, 2015 @@Kindle o my gosh! Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. The timing kinda sucks. Hey, thanks. It's really no big deal. The timing was my idea. I was lucky to find a good surgeon willing to do an elective surgery the day before a holiday. I also scheduled my VSG five days before Christmas (2013) and spent Christmas and New Years sipping on Protein shakes. I don't get PTO/sick leave, so I gotta take advantage of the holidays for time off when I can.
Julie norton 2,850 Posted November 14, 2015 Best wishes for a speedy recovery. It's just another turkey day.... It will be here next year too .. You are strong and I always look for your posts
faddapeta 12 Posted November 14, 2015 I will attempt a small piece of turkey and I hope a small amount of pumpkin pie. Just enjoy every bite that you can take down.
bugsy72 117 Posted November 14, 2015 I will be on my ten day pre-surgery diet, but the surgeon and NUT said i could have a little lean turkey, nonstarchy veggies and a carb (fruit or potato). I'm happy with that. I thought I was going to eat NOTHING but my Protein shake...
lauraellen80 855 Posted November 15, 2015 I'm going to be cooking dinner for my husband's family. I've already promised that I won't try to substitute weird diet versions of Thanksgiving recipes. I plan on having a small piece of turkey breast with gravy, and a bite each of green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce--in that order, so I get a taste of my favorites if I get full. Not sure if I'll have a bite of dessert or not--if it's not chocolate, I don't care that much.
liannatx 897 Posted November 15, 2015 Turkey! I am making the Cauliflower mock baked potato Casserole as a side dish to take. I love cranberry with turkey so that is a given! But my Mom makes it homemade... and it is wonderful.
Jack 855 Posted November 15, 2015 For me the secret is 'just a taste' of the things I really like, but sit down & have it on a (small) plate all as a meal......the remnants of my old 'dayly graze' remain too influential. And while home made sour dough herbal stuffing is great, I prefer a spoon or 2 of gravy. I too prefer a little seafood rather than turkey...but in a pinch, a little thin slice of prime rib will do. We used to go to friends for a 4 hour multi-too much feast of multiple everything. Now a small salad plate with a mini taste of the choices really satisfies. Kindle 8,667 Posted November 15, 2015 We better go out and get our cauliflower now.....cuz it looks like there will be a rush on it this year as a substitute for potatoes!! That's OK, that means more leftover potatoes for me!

sarahbethemails 68 Posted November 15, 2015 Wow a lot of you are trying stuffing. I thought that would be hard to eat because of the bread in it.
DavidOso 272 Posted November 15, 2015 2 oz turkey, 2T mashed sweet potato, 2T stuffing, 1T gravy, 1T cranberry sauce. then in about 1 hour 2T pumpkin pie(just the filling). i found some gingerbread spice herbal tea that reminds me of mulled cider, but without all the calories and sugar. that, and the chance to be truly thankful for the MANY BLESSINGS that i have this year, will be on my thanksgiving plate! SweetPotato 142 Posted November 15, 2015 Yeah... I was told to avoid bread, especially moist bread, and sugar. But there seem to be a lot of people who will be enjoying stuffing and various Desserts. And cranberry sauce
