LadiSani 59 Posted December 8, 2015 Whatever you do FAST FOR THE LAB WORK!! In the hospital when a patient is going to have cholesterol etc drawn in the AM we tell them nothing by mouth except for Water from after dinner the night before until labs are drawn. So after dinner tonight nothing except Water until after labs are drawn. It will help you get an accurate result. Eating anything can make it artificially high. Good luck! They are doing some more blood work and if all clear I am good to go for surgery on 12/22. The doctors office said I didn't need to fast but that seems strange. The surgeon ordered: CBC, CMP, A1C, and EKG. Should I fast? And if so, how long?
WalkOnWaking 139 Posted December 10, 2015 Odd that they cancelled the first date the day before. When did they have the labs that showed the elevated triglycerides? I was told to fast for mine after 10pm the day before bloodwork (except to keep drinking water). I hope you get your date this year. I got mine 11/19 and am so glad to be on the road to a new and better 2016!

LadiSani 59 Posted December 15, 2015 Blood work was good. EKG was not. Going today for an echo and stress test. I swear I am never going to get to have this done. I know people in worse condition get this surgery, so how come they can get it but I keep getting road blocks??? So frustrated right now.

LadiSani 59 Posted December 15, 2015 I know that. Its just frustrating. I have support from everyone in my life that I feel like its not just letting me down but all of them. I know that's a good problem to have but its still a problem. Plus, I have been on the pre-op diet twice now and let me tell you its harder the second time. Nurse_Lenora 903 Posted December 15, 2015 No worries, it's not that they don't want to approve surgery it is that your surgeon wants to know exactly what your health status is prior to taking you to the OR. It's the whole knowledge is power. Good luck!

Nurse_Lenora 903 Posted December 16, 2015 Why so nervous??
LadiSani 59 Posted December 16, 2015 Just the unknown. Every test I have done during this process has turned into more tests. So nervous for what if it came back bad. However that being said, the echo and stress test came back "completely normal."
