JDUB0414 0 Posted November 14, 2007 Congrats on your approval. I talked to my doctors' office and they will be sumbitting my husband and my paper work this week. How long does it take to get approval?
MileHighGreen 0 Posted November 14, 2007 Well the original submittal was back in the begining of Aug. Got denied, sent to ObesityLaw.com they took the case filed the appeal and found out last week it was reversed. Some people don't take that long so mine might not be best senario. I think as short as few days to longer than it took me. Keep calling so enough to verify that they have everything they need for review but not enough to irritate them is my suggestion. swstacey1977 0 Posted November 17, 2007 I have Aetna PPO and was approved for the lapband surgery within 48 hours. my bmi is 48, 30 years old. i had 5 years history of obesity, psy eval, 6 month well documented diet( be sure the diet included a low calorie diet, diet pill tried even if you don't get them filled and ask your doctor to put in the diet that you have been advised about behavior modification and counseled on nutrition. i also have mild sleep apnea. good luck everyone. and yes, i have heard that Aetna sucks but they were very nice to me and very quick. not sure why except that i had everything that wanted. JDUB0414 0 Posted November 18, 2007 thanks for both your feedback. swstacey1977, i have everything that you have with a higher bmi though...so i'm hopeful that i get approved that fast. My husband on the other hand has everything but a ongoing 5 year history, that's only because he hadn't been to a doctor continuously like i have, so I'm worried about his. I will call them on Monday and let you know how it goes.
swstacey1977 0 Posted November 18, 2007 No worries. you will get approved. and i was told by my surgery coordinator that Aetna only requires 3 year medical history even though i think they say differently on their website. so your husband may not have anything to worry about. let me know how everything goes and I will say a prayer for the both of you. God is good, just keep the faith and he will take care of everything else.
