Sleeved on 9th November

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on the 13th. I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon Monday. It has been a very rough five days but today I am already feeling so much better! I am having a lot of trouble getting the Protein Shakes down and keeping them down. I don't do well with chalky type drinks. My gag reflex is awful with this type of texture. I switched over to ibuprofen yesterday and got off of the pain pills. I really think this is a big part of me feeling better. Pain pills upset my stomach even without major surgery on it. My doctor allows a list of about 8 foods this early - I tried cottage cheese and very wet shredded chicken yesterday and it went down well and didn't hurt. I had 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and about 4 bites of shredded chicken. I know it has only been six days but I haven't lost any weight yet. Anyone know possible reasons why? Just trying to connect with others who have recently been sleeved. If I can answer any questions about my experience let me know.

I was sleeved the 9th. I'm feeling pretty good so happy I'm getting to eat a little. I'm down 16 lbs so far. I'm not really doing the puréed food. So if I have chicken I cut it very tiny and chew it real good. Everything seems to be going down.

Sleeved 11/9. Feeling so much better. I felt like I turned a corner this Tuesday. Pretty jealous of eating chicken. I get to puree food next week and then REAL food the next. Excited to be on this journey and glad there are others with me!

Yes my doctor does clear for 1 week, full liquids for 1 week, puréed food for 1 week, then solids. I am feeling better every day!!

I'm on full liquids for 17 days then 10 days puréed. I was told to start my Vitamins after 1 month maybe that's why I feel so tired and weak.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
