I just wanted to share this little bit with y'all. This forum has been such a huge help for me thru this journey. One thing I picked up on thru this forum was the "buyers remorse" and the struggle. I was so terrified I would go thru this myself.

I am 3 weeks post op, I attend my monthly support group last night. Everyone was so excited to see me and ask how the surgery and recovery has been. One girl asked me if had regretted it at all in the past 3 weeks. I can honestly say I have not regretted it. I told her, I have good days and bad, I struggle with my food and Protein intake from time to time, i am always tired, the back pain is something else, I have been overly ridiculously emotional at times(bless my BFF and husband for putting up with me) but I have not regretted it! I think the support I have found here and thru my support group have been a very bright spot on my dark days on this journey! This past week I have felt amazing! thank y'all for being supportive. I recommended this app at my support group last night. And for those of y'all on here struggling if you don't attend a support group please look for one and give it a try. The first time I went it was a requirement for the surgery process. I thought it was gonna be pointless and a waist of time. I've been going every month since that night 6 months ago! It's the best thing I could have done for myself. Those of you struggling I hope you find some relief soon.

My monthly support group is next Tuesday night...I agree with you it's been very helpful. Not many people in my program take advantage of it. It's a very small group, usually no more than 5-8 people tops. It's run by the NUT in my program who is excellent. The small group means if I have any questions I can be sure to get them answered...so maybe I will be selfish and say I'm glad it's small!

Sadly the support group through my bariatric practice is not really supportive. It's an information group where the leader lectures, or they bring in a plastic surgeon to show horrid pictures of skin surgery patients... I want to keep going and give it a shot but the only discussion there's been was really negative so far. I said something to the leader and we'll see where it goes.

Which is why I'm so happy for this board! :)

Maybe you should look for a group outside of the one offered by your medical team.

I really enjoy my monthly support group as well...as long as no one monopolizes the entire hour. :P

I'm with you on that last point. The moderator just couldn't keep on point and one or two people monopolized the hour and a half. It took an hour and fifteen minutes one group just for introductions. It was put on by the hospital and seemed like it was for pre and post op. Not really veterans at all. I would adore a group like that. That is why I really appreciate this forum????❤️

There is a couple in my group and they think it's their hour to talk about them only, their relationship, their kids, everything. They can get down right rude by interrupting people all the time. However they haven't been there the last two months. I have to say they have been the best two months Bc everyone gets a chance to share, ask questions, and so on.

We have people who are 5+ years post op. Our group is for pre-op and post-op. I really love hearing from the people who are years post-op.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
