Two weeks since surgery. Everything is going great. ( down 18 lbs) Walking every day BUT my calves are killing me. I know my legs are mad they have not seen much exercise - feel like they are rejecting me!

Any advice on how to ease the pain?

Get a foam roller from your nearest department store...

After you've exercised, put the roller on the floor and roll your thighs and calves with it...

It'll hurt like hell but it gets all the knots out, helps with circulation and should ease at least some of the pain...

If you want more info, go into a sports store/gym and ask someone in there...

Good luck with it!!!

I echo what @@KindaFamiliar suggested, as well as taking your old walking shoes to a GOOD athletic shoe store and letting the sales person look at the wear pattern. Better shoes might make it more comfortable. Maybe not, but its worth looking into.

look at youtube and find some videos for stretching your legs. Focus on all sorts of walking muscles. When we start exercises, our muscles freak out so we need to take care of them. I usually find great ones on myfitness pal blogs. Here are two I have done in the past.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
