eating before a fill is not the problem!! It's eating after the fill thats the same old challenge--back to liquid/mushie for a few days!! I alway have my fill at 7am --clear liquids for the rest of the day...never had a fill after any food so don't have the answer as to food before the fill--will be looking for the answer also. Good question!! Glad you asked!!

I am going for my first fill this afternoon. My doctor's office told me to make sure that you stop eating 3 hours prior to your fill and to eat lite so that there is no food in your pouch for the fill. Good luck. I am nervous as heck ut will see how it goes.

My doctor always says nothing after midnight for my 6:30a.m. fills. He also wants to make sure there is nothing in the pouch when he does the fill.

You know whats interesting my doctor never told me. I have just eaten and then had a fill with no probs. So I'm interested in seeing what other people have to say.

I read on this site not to eat before a fill and my doctor says to stay on liquids for the day I get the fill, so far I don't eat the morning before a fill and stay on liqiuds the day of a fill and I've been just fine. Hope this helps, Monk

Hi All... thanks for responding... I asked my Dr...and he has said basically the same... eat light and not RIGHT before you go..... but there isn't a strict rule there.... just common sense... :D

I was told to not eat but drinking was ok. Liquids for 24 then soft and back on to solids. I just chose not to eat or drink as I usually do not that early and they always weighed me when I went for office visit. It makes sense not to have solids in stomach before fill. You have to drink Water after fill to make sure it stays down. If it doesn't then everything you ate probably will reappear!

Mine makes you stop eating about 2 hours before a fill. I stick to liquids for 24 hours, then mushies, then solids. There you go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
