SweetPotato 142 Posted November 13, 2015 i felt terrible the first day, too. the more i forced myself to walk, the better i felt. I even went back to work on day 7 because i felt almost normal...unless i had to bend to pick up something;)
tryinagain2day 38 Posted November 13, 2015 The first couple of days are rough, you just had surgery. It DOES get better everyday. I was sleeved on 7/1 and today I am so so glad I did the surgery. I am down 74lbs and feeling amazing.
all4him 25 Posted November 13, 2015 So yesterday I was sleeved. I had a rough night, and a tough day. I feel like ****, I don't feel normal anymore. All I feel is pain and staples. To top it off my surgeon kinda freaked on me for not getting in enough liquids and that was totally discouraging. I'm pretty much regretting this decision fully at this point, and I have no one to talk to about this either. I guess maybe my doc doesn't see something great in me that I didn't see before but I do now. This is not for me, and I'm scared about how to live right now. My bestfriend is the liquid pain meds at this moment..an I feel like I could just break down and cry. All I feel is pain inside and out..and I'm scared this could all be for nothing. How are you doing now??
purz59 57 Posted November 13, 2015 I've been afraid of feeling that regret, but as of two weeks today, I'm still glad I made the decision to have the sleeve. I'm feeling much better now, watching the scales decrease, and feel better knowing I am getting healthy. I realize for the first time I'm eating to live, instead of living to eat. Just knowing I've done this to take care of myself seems to put my mind at ease.
newmebithebypass 713 Posted November 13, 2015 I had a major surgery to correct a problem in my ear back in July and I am having the same thing done next week and while it's not nearly as major as the sleeve surgery its pretty big. All I can say is yes walk walk walk. You will feel like garbage until you do and get your fluids in. Also for anyone about to get surgery ask for the patch that goes behind your ear to prevent nausea its fucking magical
Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted November 14, 2015 ZombieQueen, I’m sorry you feel so bad! The good news is…this is probably about as bad as it gets. You’re in pain, you’re tired, you can’t eat, you’re dehydrated, you’re scared, and…you haven’t even lost any weight yet! It can only get better. One thing to remember is that it’s done. You’re sleeved. There’s no going back. So it doesn’t matter whether or not you “regret” it – you can only look ahead and do your best with what you have – and your “best” may be pretty awesome! Remember, you got the surgery for a reason, so take advantage. Hang in there, and do your best to take care of yourself. Drink fluids, get in your Protein when you can, and try to stay positive – except on here, of course – you can use BariatricPal to express your worries and pain! We’re rooting for you. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 14, 2015 @@ZombieQueen, you have received lots of encouragement through these posts. I hope you are already starting to feel better. As other's have suggested, take one day at a time and focus on getting in your Protein and fluids (sip, sip, sip), and walk when you can. The first few weeks are particularly difficult emotionally since our hormones are all out of whack. It does get much, much better.
Elode 8,093 Posted November 14, 2015 @@ZombieQueen Give yourself some healing time, it's hard in the beginning. Your body has been through some trauma. It will/does get better. Hang in there!!
Catahoula Mom 11 Posted November 14, 2015 Every word you wrote was exactly how I felt at that time! I too did not get down my required Water and the surgeon was a jerk about it. Every 7mL sip I took felt like I was being gutted with a shovel. It was AWFUL. I am 11 days out and feel better every day. Hopefully you do too by now. amtc1204 1 Posted November 14, 2015 Has anyone felt jittery, nauseated, and heartburn that won't go away? I had my surgery on the 11th and I just can't take this.
4MRB4PHOTO 3,900 Posted November 14, 2015 Three days later .... I wonder why so many people who start threads never check back in -- never acknowledge others' posts or thank them or even react, never share news of "what happened next." I was thinking the same thing. Just a "Thanks for your concerns and suggestions" or check off some "Like This" boxes, or even just pass gas, just something as an acknowledgement. Maybe the OP hasn't had a chance to check back, I hope it isn't due to something more serious. This is very common for many posts, which is why some people may not post a long reply or go the extra distance and research information for someone.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 15, 2015 Has anyone felt jittery, nauseated, and heartburn that won't go away? I had my surgery on the 11th and I just can't take this. I never felt jittery, but the nausea and heartburn can be managed by your doctor. Call him and get some prescriptions.
curvybritt 53 Posted November 15, 2015 I regretted my decision for the first three days, but it got easier every day. I'm on Day 5 at the moment and it's gotten so much easier. What I feel now is not so much regret, but worry for my future but I think that's normal. It's a lot of adjusting, but you will get there in the end. The anaesthesia and anti-nausea medication all screwed with my mind, I was starting to go a little crazy.
giselle902 9 Posted November 15, 2015 I'm sorry but I promise you it gets better. My first night I grab on to a nurse and cried so hard and so long. I told her I wanted my stomach back. I think I made a mistake. I feel horrible. I was a mess. I'm almost six weeks out and I'm on the other side of that. I honestly can say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself... Hang in there.. It's going to get better ????????????
