I f*****g love protein shakes!

Recommended Posts

I don't use Protein Drinks. The only time I did was after surgery because you can't eat for a while. Once I reached the soft food stage they were gone. This was the medical recommendation I received. I was encouraged to get Protein from real foods even if that meant puree (in the early stages) I would occasionally use unflavored Protein Powder in the foods I ate but in small amounts were I couldn't even notice it. There is no need to have Protein Shakes.< /p>

That was YOUR program. All programs are different. And some rely on Protein Shakes for a while to get enough protein because they can't get enough from food alone. I was one of those. I still have a Protein shake almost every morning for Breakfast at 15 months out. Not because I can't get enough from food at this point, but because I find it easier for my routine. I'm below goal, and my blood work is textbook.

So there is no need to tell people what they do and do not 'need', mmmmkay?

I don't like most premade Protein shakes but I do love my Shakeology vanilla with a little fruit in it. Now I might have to try a little pumpkin since someone mentioned it. I like the Shakeology because it has so many other nutrients besides just Protein so I feel like I've covered my bases on my first meal of the day. I do still take my recommended Vitamins as well.

Long Division-Let's just say I stopped understanding math when the alphabet decided to get involved.

49ers- It just not as fun making fun of them without Harbaugh. Go Hawks

NSV-I sold all my XL Seahawks Jerseys and bought new one's in size Small.

I was thinking "this person must not be drinking the right kind of Protein if it tastes that good" at first. LOL I am beginning to even hate the word Protein at this point. Love my new figure though!

I find that those Isopure Zero Carb clear drinks go down better with lots of ice and a shot of vodka. :o;):D

@@SeahawksFan - me too - the number and alphabet thing... and then put it on a graph???? WTF???

I like some Protein drinks but I don't like them all.

FYI - prostate exams equate I am sure to mammograms. that is where a woman can watch them squish her breast into a pancake!

I f****ing love them too...like having my nails ripped off the beds of delicate tissue beneath. If I never have to drink another one for the rest of my life, it would be a start to a fulfilled life. I've tried in times of necessity and self torture to drink one, but I can't drink more than 4 oz, then I'm hurling the container into the trash can....NO MATTER what kind.

Oh and since we are talking football....I f***ing love the Eagles too...and they also suck ass this year.

I love the dentist. You get new teeth and a lighter wallet.

@@Alex Brecher -- May I never come home from the dentist with "new teeth." I want my old, natural-born ones -- the ones I grew all by myself -- just spiffed up a bit.

I have a Protein shake everyday for Breakfast for the past 5 years....

I invested in a very good (expensive) blender, and I use either the freshest fruits or vegtables to make the healthiest drinks possible to start the day....just need to add a scoop of Protein powder and I'm set.

May contribute to me not being hungry all day, not to mention the energy...and what it's doing for my skin tone, etc.

Also prevenatives against cancers, and other sicknesses...boosts the immune system....

Like to see anybody come up with somethig more traditional for Breakfast to compete with that...that's a lot of eggs, oatmeal, etc...YUCH!

I'm glad WLS forced me to discover this lifestyle...and I have come to learn that people everywhere, WLS or not, are doing it because of the benefits...

Learned to stay away (obstain) from meat.....also feel the benefits

Add to that daily exercise, plenty of Water,

Gee...all that because I had to take a Protein Shake.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
