Hi all! I am 7 weeks post op from VGS surgery and am getting in about 60-70 grams of Protein per day and about 60-70 oz of fluids and take my Bariatric fusion Vitamins and Probiotics and B12 daily. The last week and half I have been very fatigued and dizzy at times. I took my BP and pulse to see if it was ok and my BP is fine but my pulse is down to around 50.

I'm working on getting in to see the doctor in the next day or so but wondered if anyone had any ideas on what I can do to help with this.

No advice but if your bradycardia persist and you can't get in to see the doctor, I would head to the ER.

Have you been exercising? It sounds like it, and this is also a source of both fatigue and dizziness, post-workout. The fitter you get, the lower your resting heart rate goes, so this could likely be attributable to better shape. It isn't dangerously low, so don't worry. It's still a good idea to see the doc, as your electrolyte balance may have shifted since surgery.

@ I would like to say I have been exercising a lot but can't say that I've been too much. I do walk usually around 5000 steps a day (which I know isn't much) but haven't even been doing that the last week because I am so tired. (I drove with my husband Monday evening and he insisted on driving home because my tiredness was impacting my driving). I was exercising a lot more three weeks ago because I didn't feel this fatigued.

@@BLERDgirl Thanks! Doctor appointment scheduled for later today.

Doctor did blood work and EKG. Pulse down to 51. They are putting a 24 hour monitor on me to see if there are any issues but suspecting they will find the answer in my blood work.

Nothing seen in the blood work so far and the surgeon doesn't feel it is something lacking nutritionally since I had the sleeve and am taking the bariatric Vitamins. He thinks it may be my heart. Not sure I agree with him, but it is a bit unnerving to say the least especially since I am leaving for Europe for work on Sunday for a week and a half. Hoping to have the results back from my 24 hour monitor by Saturday before I fly out.

Surgeon also felt my weight loss of 23 lbs since surgery (7 weeks ago) was too low. And I thought I was doing ok!

Add in the fatigue and dizziness and it is all rather exhausting. I am blessed that my 17 year old son drove me all over this afternoon after school (doctor's office then hospital to turn in the monitor) because I am too dizzy to drive and he didn't complain one time (at least not to me)!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
