first fill today and it was strange

Recommended Posts

So had my first fill today 2.5 cc, it wasn't as bad as I let myself stress about. As i had written in another post I am needle phobic.

Last friday I saw my dietician she told me that the first day of the fill to be only fluids the second day on soft and normal from 3rd day.

My surgeon tells me after the fill I can go on normal straight away. A bit confusing. So i had decided to go with the dietician. This morning I actually had Breakfast, 2 egg cheese omelette and a toast with honey yep a bit too much but all went well. The last couple of days I had been quite hungry so the fill was perfect timing. Ok so after an hour of the fill I start to feel hungry but i had so much to do that I didn't have time to eat. So about 4 hours later I'm finally home and make myself a cup of Tomato Soup. 30 minutes later I am hungry again, the type of " Ill eat just bout anything" hunger. So I eat pizza " 3 slices!!!" it actually shocked me that i felt no restriction. Ive been working long hours so it must have caught up to me I fell asleep for 3 hours!. When i woke up i felt a burst of energy so I went for a 30 minute walk, would have gone longer but it was getting dark. For the family I made buttermilk

Panko crumbed chicken and chicken and vegetable Soup. Yep had a lot of chicken drumsticks. So then feeling hungry I had 1/2 cp of the soup was going to stop eating but couldn't resist had to have the crumbed chicken it wasn't fried but baked in the oven so it wouldn't have been to high in calories. I ate a small slice of potato all was good, I Took a bite of the drumstick still good then the second bite and i sware i thought i saw stars. I have officially experienced a real "stuck moment". The pain was so excruciating, I walked up and down my kitchen to walk it of, my kitchen is quite big 8X4 mt, that didn't help so i sipped some hot Water still it wouldn't settle. Then I felt the food rising up and rushed to the bathroom. Just made it. Felt much better and sipped on a hot drink. The whole experience wasn't too long about 20 minutes but it felt like hours. Well Ive learnt my lesson this time Ill never underestimate the band, its so tricky!!

Thought Ill share my experience of my first stuck moment, always tried to imagine what it would be like, I've had a couple of other what i thought were stuck moments with chicken and steak as well but they did not compare with this one. It was a beauty!

Have to admit it didn't turn me off the band or give me any regret feelings that i had it done, if anything I feel each new experience is a learning as well as exciting experience. I am booked for Friday for another .5 ml of filling as my surgeon isn't there the only day I can make the appointment he is forwarding me on to his partner. Im ok with that, but now realised I am doing a function that day so Ill have to cancel. The next available appointment would be 3 weeks from now as the doctor is there only once every 2 weeks. I hope this restriction continues till then. Still at 14 kilos loss another 16 to go!!!

Being stuck is no fun! No matter how small my fills, I do 1-2 days on liquids and 2 on mush, just so I don't irritate the band. I have a massive variety of Soups so when I get hungry, I just have more Soup. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
