retzlpa 98 Posted November 11, 2015 So have you really lost just 8 lbs since surgery or is the ticker not working properly?
James Marusek 5,244 Posted November 11, 2015 At 3 months post-op from RNY gastric bypass surgery, your meal volume should be limited to 3/8 cup per meal. I use measuring cups to measure my meal volume. 3/8 cup is not typically a normal measuring cup size, but if you look around in the stores, you can find them. The most important elements after surgery are meeting your daily Protein, Vitamin and Fluid requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting stored fats into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. So if your food volume remains low during the "weight loss" phase don't be too concerned, you will not starve to death. As ritzipa pointed out, you weight loss thus far is abnormally low for this type of surgery. So if this is real and not the produce of not updating your ticker, you might be concerned and see your nutritionist.

If you begin to exceed them too soon, you may begin to see your weight loss plateau sooner than what you desire. According to your profile, you still desire to lose another 100 pounds. terrydumont46 1,954 Posted November 12, 2015 my doctor has me more of calorie intake than volume. my pouch only will handle less than a saucer size amount of food. I am at 3 months too and am working on trying to get to 1300 calories. I am unable to achieve this calorie count yet. more like 650-900 calories so far. but my Protein intake is good as well as Water so I am not to concern. Djmohr 6,965 Posted November 12, 2015 @@terrydumont46 I am so surprised to hear your doctor has you focused on calories vs. volume and Protein. I am just shy of 14 months post op and really have to work hard to get 1100 calories in. I don't worry about it right now because I still have more to lose and hit my Protein goals everyday. The crazy thing is, I am still pretty restricted so I have to have 3 meals per day and 2 to 3 Snacks to even come close to 1100 calories. I often worry about when I get to maintenance. I know I will need to add to stop losing but I am not sure at this point how I will do that. I plan to address with my nut. The only reason I know my calorie count is because I track everything that goes in my mouth, good or bad.
