Hello November sleevers. I'm having my surgery on the 17th of Nov. Super excited but also super nervous. Just looking for tips from those who have had it already this month and those who like me are nervous about there up coming appointment. Look forward to hearing from you all.

@@@lici@ I am not a November sleever, but just wanted to wish you good luck on your surgery! I am about 7 months post-op and remember feeling nervous like you beforehand. Hopefully your pre-op has gone well as my surgeon said that my liver was really small which made the surgery much easier - that is the reason for the liver shrinking diet prior to surgery. Overall, I found the surgery easier to recover from than I expected, however as you'll see from this site everyone's experience is different. I find sticking to the basics works best for me - hydrate, Protein first, track food and move my body. Take good care!

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. Healing I'd my biggest worry I will admit, but it is very helpful hearing everyone's stories. I had no idea there was a community like this until I happen to meet another sleeve going on 2 years who introduced me. I love it. Any advice I will surely take. Hydrating is my biggest issue I think as I have to force my self to drink it. But I'll do what I must. Congrats on your surgery and look forward to hearing from you soon.

@@@lici@ I was worried about healing too. The first week was rough, but I found that moving really helped the gas pain (the worst part of the surgery recovery for me) and then the first few days just focus on hydration. My team said dehydration can really affect the healing time and I believe it! I found some ways to make it easier, like brewing herbal tea and drinking that and I used a lot of G2, the diet gatorade. That is your primary job the first week or so, so stock up on whatever you think you'll be able to tolerate. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@@butterfly23 that is great advice thank you. I will start taste testing the different flavors now, anything to help the healing process. And I'll have to warn my family alot of 'blaming the dog' is going to be happening. Lol

@@butterfly23, I'm feeling good but I'm struggling with knowing what these different feelings are in my stomach. Am I hungry, full, am I getting enough Water. I'm sure I'll figure it out. Can not wait for real food. Soup is getting old. Haha. Thanks for asking.

@@@lici@ it is weird getting reacquainted with our new stomach and learning its signals isn't it? You will learn, it took me a few weeks. For example, I thought I was hungry all the time - turns out it was acid (I swear it was hunger) so it was better after a PPI, which I am now not taking anymore. Hope your hydration is going well and that you'll be on soft foods for Tday. Take care!

@@butterfly23 I never thought it might be acid. I think my problem might be that I'm not on a schedule. If I have my Protein Shake at lunch I usually drink on that for the rest of the day to be sure I get my Protein, but perhaps I shouldnt. My stomach, may, always be full. Something I plan to talk to my doctor today about.

How are you feeling now? We had our surgery on the same day. I am doing great! Never there up once, although I got nauseous on time after brushing my teeth. Other than that nada.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
