I am not a doctor, nor do I even play one on TV.

Contact your surgeon's office, they know your medical history, your procedure and will recommend what OTC heartburn meds or if you need a PPI, amount and duration to take.

Also, if you are taking any other prescription meds they will take that into effect.

I agree, call your doctor. Typically a PPI is preferred over an ant-acid like tums because they can effect Calcium levels.
