What does not having the uncomfortable feeling when eating anymore mean ?

Recommended Posts

Hey folks I'm a month out from surgery as of 11/13/15 and when I started eating the different phases as I progressed after surgery when I would eat too much I would get a sharp pain in my diaphragm as food went down. I knew I needed to stop eating when it hurt but my concern now is I don't have that pain anymore so I'm worried that I've stretched my sleeve:-( I'm not loosing weight as much as I was at the beginning. I go back to my surgeon this Thursday. Any advice would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. Really have hit a hard wall now n need help

It just sounds like you are healing so the tummy is no longer sore when eating. Please do not get in the habit of seeking pain or fullness as an indicator of when to stop eating. Stick to the amount recommended by your program. Either way, you are not at risk of having stretched your sleeve.

It's not uncommon to see a slight uptick when transitioning from liquids to solids and regular eating. Make sure you are meeting your Protein and fluid goals and add in exercise as you heal. The scale should eventually start moving in the right direction.

I was just told by my doctor this tip....

Measure out something like applesauce. Eat it slowly and mindfully with a baby spoon. Once you feel full stop! Now measure how much you ate. That is the size of your pouch. Now when you go to eat never go above that amount and you won't stretch your pouch.

Mine measured 1/4 cup.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
