Hi everyone!

My name is Meghan and I am 5 years post. I am a mom of 3 AMAZING children and am lucky to get stay home with them full time right now. The best part of losing weight is being able to walk around on the beach with them all day and not be in so much pain! I decided to join this forum to re-inspire me to keep losing. I gained a little weight since I've been at home more and I know I have the toolset to lose it if I apply myself.

A little more about me, I had gastric sleeve surgery at a hospital in Tijuana Mexico (it was very safe and I would recommend it to anyone).

A lot of people on here seem to be newbies. I would love to hear from other veterans about your experience!

Welcome! I'm not really much of a veteran. I'm only 15 months out and just recently started maintenence, but just wanted to say hi and welcome! There are quite a few veterans who are 2-5 years out still pretty active on this forum who are so wise and knowledgeable! I don't know what I would have done without them through this journey, and I'm happy to see another wise veteran join!

As I'm sure you know, the best way to start is just get back to basics like in the beginning. Protien first, then veggies. Lots of Water, and no processed crap. I know you'll get that weight you gained back off in no time :)

Keep us posted!

Hi!

I am very new to this, had my surgery 10/29/15 - VGS!

This all seems so confusing, any advise would help.

Surgey with well, no complcations, no pain meds in hospital or out!

Starting weight 245 down to 229, I feel like I have an obsesion with the scale!

Overwhelmed and Frustated

@@goingtoskinny soon Take it one day at a time! I know how you feel about being obsessed with the scale. What helped me was to pick one exact time each week (well I did twice a week) to weigh myself and no matter how badly I wanted too, not to look any other day. Don't obsess over every pound! As long as your weight is trending down everything will be okay. Just wait and see where you are in a few months!!!

@megnj Thank You for the advice. I'm going to put the scale away today and only weigh once a week ( ok maybe twice).

This just all seems a little overwhelming to me! One of my friends at work had surgery a year ago and lsot 60 lbs in 6 weeks... So of course that is now stuck in my head :(. I do need to remember we all are different!

Can I ask how long you were on liquids? I have been on clear x 1 week, now full x 1week. My dr said I could go to pureed and soft foods next week. I thick I may stick with fulls. I hardly get any liquid in, I do get in one premade Protein shake and 1/2 cup creamed Soup. Any tips or tricks?

@@goingtoskinny soon I was on liquids for two weeks (that was the worst!). My only tip is to listen to your doctor! Don't try to cheat your diet. And good luck!

Hello everyone I am a veteran surgery was March 2013 but just back now. I am having trouble with eating urges and need to get back on track. I have lost about 122 lbs but in the last year have gained about 8 lbs back. If that isn't bad enough I have gained the hunger which I have not had. I have had 6 more operations in the last year and chemo I was doing great still losing then after chemo it has been a struggle to lose. My doctor says I am fine and that it will be fine but I know myself..... I actually after all this time get hungry, I hate that!!!! I want to finish my journey and lose another 25 lbs . Anyone else have Cancer after having their sleeve? I need help & support????

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
