Hello! My name is Mary and I was banded yesterday 07/17/07 so far so good. Of course my mind is going every which way but reading all of your posts has really helped me get a grip. I have been married 5 years and he is a very supportive man. I am a really lucky girl! I want to lose about 120 pounds, maybe more or less depending on how I feel when I get there. I have always been heavy even in elementary school, I was always the biggest kid in the class photo. The last couple years I have been struggling with losing weight for various reasons and I decided I needed to do this for myself. I am 27 years old and I swear I sure do feel old sometimes. The last couple years I went to six flags and I know ya'll no where I am going with this. Of course I couldn't fit in many of the rides and boy was that a bummer especially since I couldn't ride them with my hubby. Then he acted like he didn't want to ride anymore rides because he felt sick (yeah right) but coincidently he still wanted to ride the ones I did fit in... I know he didn't want me to feel bad. I told you I am a lucky girl. Hope to make some new friends! Thanks for reading my little intro!

RN2be2008,

It sounds like we have a lot in common. I am 25 and have been married for 3 years. I have 150 pounds to lose to be the ideal BMI. Every year my company takes us all to six flags, and I cannot ride rides anymore. It is sooo embarassing. It is coming around again in Sept and I am thinking of not going to avoid the walk of shame off the ride when you did not fit. I too have a very loving and supportive husband. Congrats on your band. Hopefully I will be banded soon. Hopefully sometime soon we will both be able to ride any ride we want! Good luck with your journey. It will be both challenging and exciting!

Melissa

I Am Getting Banded On The 24th. How Are You Getting Around. I Am Supposed To Be Going To The Lake The 27th, For A Girls Getaway. Just Wondering If You Are Still In Pain.

Thanks for all the welcomings! I am feeling much better except that the gas makes it difficult to drink consistently. I have been moving around alot since the surgery and I am positive it has helped. I still feel worn out but I could probably go out for a short time, I am still taking the tylenol 3 every 6-8 hours but I think I can handle changing it to maximum strengh liquid tylenol, for the pain. However I still have pain particularly in the port area for the most part.

Melissa300- I am planning a trip to Cedar Point next year with the goal of fitting in the rides. I understand where you are coming from and I can't wait until that day comes. I especially look forward to all the perks that comes with losing weight. I would love to cross my legs comfortably. Not being afraid of the seatbelts in tight cars. All the things many people take for granted. Can't Wait!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
