JohnnysGirl0424 6 Posted November 8, 2015 I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out I was fine up until about 2-3 days ago. Watching others eat fast food or even just normal food was ok with me. All of a sudden anytime someone cooks or brings food home, I literally dry heave. It only makes my appetite problem worse. Since I'm already having a very hard time eating anything. Today I've only had one 80 calorie yogurt. Food disgusts me right now, and I'm not liking this feeling.
magtart 603 Posted November 8, 2015 I had a similar issue early on. It passed pretty quickly. I just had to force myself to drink my Protein drinks and Water. Sipping chicken broth seasoned with rosemary & thyme helped settle my stomach.

BarrySue 602 Posted November 9, 2015 Yes! I went through this a couple months ago. I would gag just thinking about food! For me, it was half mental, half unusual symptoms of a gallbladder attack. I ended up coming off food for a few days and receiving IV nutrition just to give my body time to rest from the nausea and dry heaving. They ended up asking me to indulge in certain foods that had nostalgia/warm feelings attached to it, which would seem counter-productive after weight loss surgery, but it was to ease me back into tolerating food again. So, I lived on Peanut Butter crackers for a couple weeks, and while I still can't tolerate many things, I no longer gag at the smell/sight/thought of food. kemahaney 14 Posted November 12, 2015 There are days that smelling food makes my stomach churn and it is effort to eat. I mean living on Proteins shakes and a few other things. Than other days I smell something and it makes my body go I miss food. Lol I just go with the flow
glitter eyes 1,398 Posted November 12, 2015 I had a brief spell of that in the beginning too. I also use to get grossed out at the size of everyone else's portions. It did pass. Now I feel completely "normal"
