Hi guys, prior to surgery I was 306 and at the time of surgery I was 282. Now I'm 248 almost at my 3 month post op. That's only 34lbs, is that normal?

ONLY 34 pounds in 3 months... um, yes it's great. Have you ever heard of anyone losing that much weight that hadn't had surgery? It's a very good amount to have lost already.

What is "normal" for you might not be normal for someone else, so do not get stuck on the idea that you need to compare yourself and your progress to others.

Make sure you're following your Nut/surgeon's instructions, get your Water and Protein requirements and try to do exercise several times a week. Your body will go at the pace it is happy with, and comparing yourself to others is just a waste of time. ;)

You've lost approx 12% of your body weight in 3 months...

At that rate, you'll be around 150 pounds within 12 months...

I'd say you're doing ok...

Thank you guys. I was worried because some lost over 50 in 3 months so I thought I was doing something wrong.

Was that person your clone? If you aren't identical then don't compare. There are too many variables. Simply focus on yourself and your progress.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
