I'm craving some corn beef turnip and cabbage!

I don't know if you were just recently sleeved, but if so, you can eat foods again like those (in moderation) in only a few short weeks.

For me, personally, I would only dream about a boiled dinner if I was having it with Halle berry. :)

I had a bad day with cauliflower early on, so I waited until about six months before I tried cabbage. There was no problem, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had bypass and made boiled dinner at about 4 months and beyond. Love it, especially the cabbage and carrots.

Oh wow that's good to know I'm only a month out but boiled dinner was my last meal before surgery lol!! Not joking either I love to fry it the next day on the stove with some butter.. Glad to know I can eat it woohoo.

Sarah....just because some posters can eat certain foods, doesn't mean you will tolerate those same foods. Please make sure this early in the process, to check with your surgeon and nutritionist before trying any of the foods you want to eat.

Thanks for the advice go walking. I understand that and normally I just like to see what others can tolerate but in this post I was stating I was craving something and dreaming of food just wondering if I was the only to be dreaming of certain foods as well.

Cooked cabbage is one of my favorite foods since surgery....I like to fry the leftovers in butter....no corn beef though, don't eat meat since surgery.

But then, I'm a lap bander...things are different for me.

Oh well...that's different. LOL. I can tell you that my experience has been that as the weight dropped, I went from dreaming of food to dreaming of a new wardrobe. I even have several pocketbooks to go with my outfits..same for shoes and fashion jewelry. I feel like a life sized Barbie doll sometimes. Not that I have her measurements obviously, but I am having a great time dressing myself up after so many years just hoping to find clothes that fit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
