Raleigh, NC hospital and surgeon?

Recommended Posts

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina for state employees. I'm only a few weeks into the research process but would love to know who has had surgery in my area, where and with what surgeon? Thanks!!!

I am right there with you, I picked Dr. Enochs and hope to schedule the surgery at Rex. They seemed very familiar with the insurance/process.

Good choice, Dr. Enoch is great. I'm going to Dr. Bruce. My husband works in one of the hospitals they perform surgery, and he says their all awesome plus His Co worker went there for her surgery, and she is very happy with her results, and loved the decision she has made. They have many good doctors there. Good luck!

If you have Facebook check out Dr. Enoch, Dr. Bruce, and the other doctors.. there all great. The page is called: Bariatrics Specialists of NC... it's on Facebook. Also they have a few of YouTube videos, and one of them is a brief video of Dr. Bruce performing the sleeve surgery. Good luck!

And, let's try to stay updated with each other (if you'll don't mind) since we are in the same location, and possibly seeing the same circle of doctors.

Sure thing, Ms. Ladywarren. I am glad to find other girls in this area are in the same boat! I will see if I can figure out to follow you here, I would be glad to hear how it goes with triangle girls! Too, I appreciate hearing the good words on the docs.

I went to the introduction seminar at Rex last night and was very impressed. I plan on having Dr. Sharp be my surgeon. Now I just need to go through all the tests and go to all the meetings so I can get insurance's approval.

I know this post is from a little bit ago but I started looking into this about the same time and just got the sleeve with Dr Enochs. Did you ladies get through the process with him also!

I went with Dr. Bruce, they work together. All the doctors are good. I've heard great things about Dr. Enochs. Congratulations!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
