Nausea with Premier protein

Recommended Posts

I have been drinking Premier Protein shakes since my surgery on 10/28. They have recently started causing really bad nausea. Anyone have any suggestions on alternatives?

The Premier Protein started making me sick too. I like the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (van or choc) with unsweetened almond milk and PB2 powder.

I went to GNC tonight to go check out other Protein choices. I like premier but am getting tired of it real quick. My wife showed me Isopure it's more like a Gatorade then a milky substance like the premier. I'm going to try it tomorrow I'll report back good thing is that it has 40g of protein so two of those a day and bam daily intake met.

I use the Isopure no carbs. I like them but I only use the teas & coconut flavors.

Well just about finished my first Isopure while I wouldn't say it's great tasting I wouldn't say it's bad. It taste like Water downed diet Gatorade. But it beats the milky Protein Drinks that I have gotten old of quick. I tried icy orange. I bought three other flavors to try. 40grams of Protein 160 cal 1 serving isn't that bad I don't think I think it's something I will keep drinking to change it up. post-265643-14470338323264_thumb.jpg post-265643-14470338453161_thumb.jpg

I have developed a sensitivity to both Preimier and Protein Water.< /p>

Severe cramping so much that Dr. put me on real food at week one. I am eating a lot of turkey and chicken meatballs (ground meat). They are tender and have had no issue. I had to go on the pre surgery twice because i had to cancel the first scheduled surgery due to death in family....i think it built up in my system.

Tried today to have a premier today just to see if i could since haven't had it in several weeks and i bought a lot. Same story....cramping

I haven't had problems with unjury so far. Premier Protein is a Protein concentrate- meaning you are only absorbing about 12g of the protein in each shake, not the entire 30g. Unjury is a pure protein isolate, so you are absorbing every gram of protein in each scoop. I have the unflavored and mix it with EVERYTHING (cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, Soups, smoothies, etc)

I'm willing to try anything right now. Going back to the surgeon tomorrow for my check up. She sells Unjury out of her office.

All of them made me extremely nauseous. Premier, Unjury, Isopure, shakes, powders, it just instantly triggers gagging. I ended up living on Fairlife fat free milk (added Protein Calcium, sugar and lactose filtered out) I mixed with sugar free strawberry Syrup or diet hot cocoa mix for variety, and I used it almost exclusively for about two months until I could start eating solids to get my protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
