Sleeved with PCOS

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is next month and I was wondering how many of you have PCOS. I have heard it can almost completely eliminate all symptoms of PCOS which would be amazing, as I have had two miscarriages due to PCOS. I would love to hear the in's and out's of having PCOS with the sleeve! Do you feel you lost slower? Did your symptoms go away? Which symptoms went away? Successful pregnancy afterwards?

Hey, I had my surgery to fix the same problem, however I never had my cycle and was unable to even get pregnant. Now I'm 4 months post op and have a cycle since day 2 after surgery if u can believe it. Normal flow every month. My doctor wants me to wait at least a year before I try to get pregnant. So far so good.

That is absolutely wonderful! That gives me so much hope! My doctor wants me to wait at least year too, I figured I have waited this long, so another year won't kill me! Lol Do you plan on trying as soon as you hit your 12 month mark? I am 30 so I feel an urgency to start right away! Lol

I, too, have PCOS and I've had a regular cycle each month since 9/2 (my surgery day) heck! I had a cycle day after my surgery that lasted 2 weeks! sometimes I'll have it twice a month! The only benefit I see from it is that I'm obviously ovulating which means HOPEFULLY I'm dropping eggs! which in turn means hopefully next year, we can start trying for a baby!!! My husband and I have been married 2 years and together for 11. We never used any protection but I never conceived. :( so ultimately, aside from some medical issues I had which led me to going onto disability at work, my goal was to be a mommy. I'm so happy to say I'm back at work, I'm feeling great! Since June 5, I've lost 100 pounds. Started at 410...Surgery day I was 367 and today I'm 309!!! We can't wait to start trying again! We're going to start trying in June, July or August next year...depending on where I am weight wise. We live in Palm Springs, CA which is the desert and I really don't want to be pregnant during the 110° + weather...so those months will allow for a winter pregnancy. :) anyways, that's my PCOS story. One other thing, I still have to pluck my "beard" every 3rd or 4th day...I hate the facial hair PCOS brings and I haven't noticed those decrease...but I'll live with it. Plucking kinda is my "me time" and it's a stress reliever for me. LOL ???? GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
