kyear 15 Posted November 6, 2015 How minimal is scarring? Is there ways to prevent? Just had my surgery. Two days post op. Just wondering how the incisions will look over time.
KindaFamiliar 3,867 Posted November 6, 2015 I can hardly see mine... The 'big' one is kinda visible but the rest (4 more) - barely noticeable... I'm just over 8 moths post-op...
Kindle 8,667 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) I took this photo about a year postop. The arrows are pointing to my scars. They are even fainter now. I never used any skin products, but my uncle swears by coconut oil. Edited November 6, 2015 by Kindle
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 6, 2015 Except for the biggest scar you can barely see mine. I was really good with caring for my skin. I used scarffade gel then bio oil, but I have really dry skin and moisturize daily anyway.
kyear 15 Posted November 6, 2015 This is me now, 3 days post op. Should I wait for the glue to naturally fade to put anything on it? Thank you for all the advice!
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted November 6, 2015 I suck at moisturizing and my scars aren't at all noticeable unless you are looking for them.

Thank you for all the advice! Don't pick at the glue. Let it come off by itself. You shouldn't put anything on the incisions until they have completely healed. Don't rub, scrub, or pick at the glue. It will fall off when it's time. Once the incisions healed, I started using Palmer's cocoa oil or cocoa butter when I get out of the shower. Champ715 207 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) I was given some surgical soap and told to wash the incisions/scars twice per day gently with soap and Water. I was told to clean them with hydrogen peroxide if they showed any signs of infection. I'm 5 weeks out and two of my scars are just a faint line now. The other two are still healing because I picked at them in my sleep. Oops. Edited November 6, 2015 by Southern Sleever
Ilovecats1985 100 Posted November 7, 2015 Years ago I had to see a plastic surgeon to have a mole on my face removed. She told me anytime you have a surgery scar us Vitamin e oil. I used it in my face back then and you can't see the scar at all. I still have the glue over my incisions from my sleeve surgery but once it comes off I plan on using the vitamin e oil to help with the scarring.
